A financial coach works with individuals and couples to help them gain control of their finances and guide them towards their financial goals. While you can take control of your finances on your own, many people find it less stressful and more direct to work with a financial coach. It’s like getting in shape and working with a personal trainer or going for a hike with a trail guide. While you could go it alone, it’s really nice to have an expert walk along with you and share the experiences of what has worked well for others and share encouragement when you get frustrated.
Can you have a financial coach if you already work with a financial advisor?
Absolutely! Financial coaches provide day to day and shorter term support. Coaches typically do not offer investing advice or sell insurance. As a financial coach, I partner with many financial advisors to help their clients gain confidence with their finances so they can achieve their investing goals.
How do I find the right financial coach for me?
When you begin your search, you can start by looking for local coaches, but you can also search online. Most financial coaches do sessions virtually. For example, I use zoom and coach anyone in the U.S. even though I am located in Wake Forest, NC. Most coaches offer a short consultation call which is so important because you can learn more about the coach’s personality and really determine if they are a good fit to work with you. You must be really honest during your intro call with the coach even if you aren’t proud of your current financial situation. A good financial coach is non-judgmental, understands that everyone has made mistakes with money, and has likely worked with clients whose financial starting points are worse than yours. As intimidating as it can be to reach out to a coach, it’s a great step to take so you can fast track your success and go from stressed about money to confident in your plan. If you’re considering working with a financial coach, I’d love the opportunity to help you. Schedule your free 15 minute consultation call.
