How can you find the top 5 books and podcasts of 2019?  Hint: start with this list.

Every year there are so many great books released that it’s hard to pick which ones to read first. I spend a lot of time in the car listening to podcasts and that’s a great way to hear what books are new. I listen to podcasts on all different topics, but they mostly are personal finance and motivational. It actually wasn’t until putting this list together that I realized some of my favorite podcast hosts have released books this year. The top 5 books and podcasts go together. Whether you prefer to read or listen, or do both, here are my top 5 book and podcast recommendations for 2019.

Don’t Keep your Day Job by Cathy Heller

Cathy’s podcast, also called Don’t Keep Your Day Job, is a great listen whether you love your day job or it’s just a way to pay the bills. This cheeky title helps encourage creativity and provides support to help listeners feel that they are enough. It’s motivational with a touch of self care and some amazing guests. What’s even better? The music at the end are all Cathy’s creations and certainly brighten my day. Her book is now available for pre-order and will be released October 29, 2019.

Everyday Millionaire by Chris Hogan

Chris’s podcast, The Chris Hogan Show, is a motivational financial listen and you’ll enjoy it for more than just Chris’s deep voice. A Dave Ramsey personality, Chris focuses on retirement and on busting common myths about millionaires in his newest book.

Another book of Chris’s that I enjoyed was Retire Inspired.

Girl Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

The Rise Podcast talks about business and motivation.  Rachel provides actionable tips and encouragement that no matter where you started or how you learn, you can make something great of yourself.

Another book of Rachel’s that I enjoyed is Girl Wash Your Face.

Outer Order Inner Calm by Gretchen Rubin

Gretchen’s podcast, Happier with Gretchen Rubin, is co-hosted by her sister, Elizabeth Craft, and focuses on all things related to happiness. This is a feel good listen, but the sisters keep it real with their gold stars and demerits. Gretchen has published several books and includes research about why the finding is accurate. Her newest book discusses how your environment impacts your mental state.

Another of Gretchen’s books that I enjoyed was The Happiness Project.

Do it Scared by Ruth Sookup

Ruth’s podcast, also called Do It Scared, talks about the importance of taking risks to create your best life. Her guests share their stories and are always incredibly motivational whether or not you’re in a similar situation.

Another book of Ruth’s that I enjoyed was Living Well, Spending Less.
